Backyard Ice Rinks
Backyard Ice Rinks come in all shapes and sizes.
To begin, it is important to understand that the pricing for backyard ice rinks depends on the desired size, height of sidewalls, and pitch (change in landscape) of the backyard. Lighting, netting, taller walls, and other accessories will also add to the price.
At your request, a specialist will meet you on site to take specific measurements of the desired backyard ice rink location. Our specialists will use a laser level to measure the pitch of your yard in order to develop the blueprint for your ice rink. At the time of the estimate, you can discuss storage, maintenance, ice resurfacing, lighting, netting or any other special service requests. We will then provide a quote for a custom ice rink specifically for your backyard. The ice rinks are semi-permanent structures and will stay on site the entire winter season. After you purchase the rink materials (the first year), you will only have to pay for set-up and takedown in future seasons.
Our customers tend to purchase three sizes. 20' x 40', 30' x 60', and 60' x 90'. There are many variations we can build. We can use wall heights as low as 8” to as high as 4 ft. We can build ice rinks over patios, blacktop, basketball courts, tennis courts, and even pools. We supply lighting, netting, entrance doors, maintenance, resurfacing, storage, and any other services you may need through your journey as an ice rink owner.
On average, Ice Rinks will cost between $750 and $1200 for equipment and lumber. Our average installation prices are between $450 and $1200. Maintenance and storage are optional. Takedown (usually in March) will be between $400 - $1000.
We begin our installations as early as November.
Due to the detail required to service you properly - each estimate costs $40-75 but will be deducted from your purchase. We accept cash, credit card, or check upon arrival.
Ice Rink FAQ
When do installations begin?
They begin in late October. Depending on the weather we may even start them earlier in order to provide full use of your rink.
When do you take them down?
We take them down as soon as the temperature reaches above 32 degrees. Generally, by the end of March, your ice rink will be drained, removed, and in storage.
How do you fill the ice rink and when do you fill the ice rink?
In order to prevent debris and animals from entering the water, we fill the ice rinks as soon as the temperature is fluctuating around 32 degrees in the fall. This is generally around mid-November. As far as filling the backyard ice rink, we only fill ice rinks with water trucks. The price for this service is $450 per 5,000 gallons but it is well worth it because of the following:
- It prevents debris from entering your ice rink.
- We will have specialists on site during the filling in case last minute adjustments are needed.
- The process only takes 1-4 hours and we will be there for you the whole step of the way.
How does maintenance work?
We can provide maintenance for you on an as-needed basis or we can maintain your ice rink every time it snows. We have the resurfacing tools necessary to resurface and maintain your ice rink for as low as $140-$300 each week. Keep in mind if it snows 12 inches, that is a lot of snow to remove and all of the ice needs to be resurfaced.
Do I own the ice rink?
Yes, you do. After your first year, you will only need to pay for labor and storage!
